Web 2.0 NY Brings Opportunity to Madison Ave
January 25, 2008 – 3:13 pmBy Matt Clark
Web 2.0 NY will take place next Thursday, January 31, at Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. The one-day event will focus on monetizing opportunities behind Web 2.0. The keynote speaker, Josh Macht of Harvard Business Digital, will talk about why Madison Ave needs Web 2.0.
Interesting topics for digital marketers include:
- Where’s the Value in Web 2.0? Exploring the Value Proposition
- Social Mining: Turning Relationships into Gold
- New Values in Search
- Web Video - Pros vs Users in Race for Riches
- Advertising 2.0 - Following the Customer
- New Widgets & Technologies that Could Change Everything
My initial reaction was that advertising should not be in the realm of digital marketing, but on second thought, I was wrong. Companies are starting to build successful Web 2.0 business models that don’t rely on click-through rates and this directly impacts digital marketing efforts. As products like widgets, which were previously thought of as marketing vehicles, become monetized, business goals will force new marketing strategies. Digital marketers need to know where to focus their energy and what new ideas are being developed in the near future.
