How do you get people to use your Facebook application? You can make it easy to personalize, so the app feels like a tool built specifically for each user. You can make it easily sharable. Or you can offer cold hard prizes, like a hammerhead shark signed by the cast of the Golden Girls.
Will Ferrell took this last route to publicize his FunnyOrDie Facebook application. Granted, this exact tactic may not work for everyone - hammerheads aren’t easy to come by. But prizes are a good way to spur user interest.
