With the TC50 finally over lastweek, we’ve seen a lot of cool companies launch recently, including Ashton Kutcher’s Blahgirls and tons of other great startups. Here at DBlab we’d like to take a more indepth look at VideoSurf, one of the 50 (well, actually… 52) companies that unveiled at TechCrunch’s annual launch show.

VideoSurf is essentially a search engine that allows users to find videos from all across the internet in a more streamlined, visually-oriented way. The Yahoo-pedigree developers created an process that allows computers to actually “look” inside of videos so that they can be effectively analyzed, classified, and categorized frame-by-frame.  You can actually search by scene, person, whatever- and manage your searches visually. Currently, VideoSurf is still in beta.

While its unnecessary to get into the nuts-and-bolts technology aspect of this insanely cool product (you can read the TechCrunch article here), I do think this could be a real game-changer in the realm of search for video content. This is huge news for marketers, who may have to consider something along the lines of Video SEO. Properly formatting your corporate or product demo videos will make it much easier for clients, consumers, potential business-whatever- to search and find what they are looking for without the trial-and-error approach that pervades Youtube.

And hey- If Scoble says it doesn’t suck, then it’s good enough for me. That said- if any of y’all got any beta invites- holla atcha girl!
